Grape Fruit Seed Extract
Grapefruit seed extract (GSE) is a natural product derived from the seeds, pulp, and white membranes of grapefruit. It is often used as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent and is believed to have various health benefits. However, the specific effects of GSE on Borrelia burgdorferi, the bacterium that causes Lyme disease, are still a subject of debate and limited scientific research.
Some laboratory studies have suggested that GSE may have antimicrobial properties against Borrelia burgdorferi, including its cyst or round body form. These studies have reported that GSE may inhibit the growth or activity of the bacteria in vitro (in a laboratory setting).
